About Dr. Suné Naudé

I am a Counselling Psychologist in private practice the South of Johannesburg with 26 years of experience.

I hold an Honours Degree in Communication which I obtained at the University of the Free State. I also completed my Masters Degree in Psychology after which I obtained my PhD Degree at the Rand Afrikaans University (now University of Johannesburg).

I am registered at the Health Professions Council of South Africa as Psychologist since 1995.

I work within a cognitive-behavioural, interpersonal and ecosystemic framework. Cognitive-behavioural approach deals with the maladaptive thought patterns and behaviours and how feelings and concerns impact on behaviour. This approach assists people to see the connection between how they think and beliefs about themselves and the behaviours as a result of this.

The interpersonal approach identifies and comprehends dysfunctional patterns in relationships, establishing why things happen in a certain context. It also addresses changing patterns that don’t work and develop healthier behaviours.

The ecosystemic approach explains and identifies problems in a contextual framework and focuses on understanding and changing the dysfunctional dynamics of relationships and families.

I also have a special interest in Neuropsychology and have completed various courses in this field.  I have completed training in Bio- and Neurofeedback and use it as a part of treatment in my practice.  I also incorporate Virtual Reality Therapy (VRT) in my practice.

I am also a MiM (Mediation in Motion) / UCT qualified Mediator.  I specialise in Medical Negligence and Divorce / Family mediation.

I am also a member of the South African Medico-Legal Association (SAMLA).
